Job Description Job Description Salary: $130,000 - $145,000/year Project FINDs missionis to provide low- and moderate-income and homeless seniors with the services and support they need to enrich their lives and live independently.Today Project FIND operates four affordable housing residences that are home to about 750 people and four senior centers with more than 3,000 members. Please visit our website at:www.projectfind.org Job Summary: Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance (DOF) oversees Project FINDs internal accounting function and serves as the primary organizational liaison to BTQ Financial. The DOF is a senior thought partner to executive leadership and the Board, responsible for ensuring the integrity, effectiveness, and compliance of all fiscal systems supporting agency operations, programs, and housing portfolios. The Director of Finance manages internal financial operationsincluding payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and housing program inputswhile ensuring that Project FIND operates in full alignment with its fiscal policies, audit requirements, and regulatory obligations. This role is central to translating operational activity into accurate financial reporting and strategic financial insight. Key Responsibilities: Financial Leadership & Liaison with BTQ Financial Serve as Project FINDs primary point of contact with BTQ Financial for accounting, budgeting, payroll, and financial systems. In partnership with BTQ, proactively engage the Executive Director and senior leadership to develop short-, mid-, and long-term financial plans and projections, with an emphasis on full contract spend-downs. Collaborate with the Board of Directors and financial advisors, alongside BTQ, to steward investment and reserve funds. Meet regularly with department heads to review budgets, spending patterns, and financial planning needs. Provide well-informed, trusted counsel to the Executive Director, Executive Team, and Board on financial strategy, risk, and operational implications. Support the development and maintenance of internal financial tools and systems that enhance transparency, decision-making, and organizational performance. Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting to the Board, government funders, and donors. Assist BTQ with annual budgeting for Project FIND and affiliated/subsidiary entities. Act as lead internal contact for fiscal system integrations and special projects related to finance or payroll. Deliver actionable recommendations related to financial goals, controls, and long-term strategy. Management of Finance & Accounting Operations Supervise internal finance and accounting staff to ensure timely and accurate execution of the following: Accounts payable and receivable processing, including appropriate coding and programmatic allocation splits. Coordination with Administrative Services and Development to ensure contracts and grants are fully registered, activated, and tracked. Deposit and tracking of on-site check receipts, with clear communication to BTQ Financial. Accurate and timely submission of voucher inputs across multiple government contract funding sources. Management of agency reimbursement processes. Ongoing assessment of organizational financial performance relative to budget and strategic objectives. Collaboration with Property Management to ensure accurate financial inputs related to tenant rent accounts, subsidies, and security deposits. Payroll Administration Oversee payroll processing for union and non-union staff, including verification of tax data, benefits, WageWorks, health and welfare plans, pension contributions, and compensation changes. Ensure staff allocations are correctly reflected in the general ledger. Review and approve employee rosters each pay period in coordination with BTQ Financial to confirm headcount accuracy and allocation integrity. Administrative & Systems Oversight: Serve as chief administrator for fiscal systems related to payroll, property management, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Assist with troubleshooting finance related I/T and systems issues. Provide supervision and HR-related management to finance staff, including timesheet approvals, performance evaluations, and corrective actions. Support the development and maintenance of internal filing systems in accordance with fiscal procedures and compliance requirements. Participate in Board and Finance Committee meetings, alongside BTQ Financial, to present budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses. Perform other duties as required to meet organizational needs. Qualifications: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university required; Masters degree preferred. CPA a plus. Minimum of 710 years of senior financial management experience in organizations with annual operations exceeding $5 million and 100 employees, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Recent, relevant experience as a Finance Director in a nonprofit organization with State and Federal funding portfolios. Strong familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards, revenue recognition, financial metrics, and best practices. Demonstrated success as a results-driven manager with experience supervising professional staff. Prior experience as a key member of a senior executive team, advising CEOs and Boards on financial implications of strategic decisions. Strong financial planning and analysis (FP&A) capabilities and operational finance orientation. Experience in regulated environments strongly preferred, nonprofit experience highly desirable. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with staff, executives, and Board members. Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations and compliance requirements. Ability to interpret laws and policies and advise management accordingly. Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to travel between Project FIND sites as required. Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00AM - 5:00PM Project FIND participates in E-Verify, which confirms employment authorization through an electronic database maintained by the Social Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security. The E-Verify process is completed in conjunction with the Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification. E-Verify is not used as a tool to pre-screen candidates.
